Pearlanne "PJ" Redhouse threw a career-high series last week with a 649 on games of 251, 213 and 185, including 17 strikes.

Pearlanne "PJ" Redhouse is enjoying the cooler fall temps outside, but inside she's been turning up the heat including a red-hot performance at Dixie Bowl that featured 17 strikes en route to a career-high 649 series on games of 251, 213 and 185.

And her stellar outing stands in sharp contrast from when she began bowling in the 2018-19 season when a 600 series or 200 game seemed impossible and finished her rookie campaign with a 111 average. And that's not a typo!

However, fast forward to two years ago when she totally revamped her game by switching to a fingertip bowling ball and throwing a hook with it.

And she's quick to credit those two changes for the eye-popping improvement in her game which included her first-ever 600 series last season along with multiple deuce games. And equally impressive was finishing last season with a composite 171 average compiled over 339 games.

And with continued improvement in her game, she's on a trajectory to become one of the top women bowlers.

Away from bowling, Redhouse is a humongous Pittsburg Steelers fan, and her bucket list includes visiting London and trips to the national parks of Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Great Smokey Mountains.

In other women's action, Ashley Thomas threw the first 700 of the season with a brilliant 712 series on games of 267, 257 and 188 in Sunday night league play at Dixie Bowl.

Meanwhile, it looks like Margie O'Neill (627-238) is primed for a banner season, and it's pretty much a given that Sherri Snarr (593-224) will have another outstanding season and be in the chase for high average.

And triggered by a 239, Diana Stauffer (575) had a good week at Sunset Lanes, and so did Hailey Bundy (585-205) with another terrific effort. Look for multiple 600s from Bundy this season.

Karen Balicki (558-225) captured her first ink in this column for a strong showing in the Tuesday Mixed Doubles League at Sunset, and Jamie Turlington (554-233) is definitely off to a blazing start this season.

In single game action, Chris Sanzone (533) rolled a 222, Sharon Reading (558) posted a 221, Janet Parker (546) nabbed a 209, Donna Jo Judson tallied a 208 and Urianna Wright (511) booked a 200 on the nose.

In men's play, Robert Dickey (750-268) and Alfred Olivera V (728-266) set the scoring pace, while Scott Brosier (719-246) put together another explosive night on the lanes, and two-handed bowler Mason Bedford (695-267) is having a really good start to the season.

Meanwhile, Ken Schloman (681-246) fired 21 strikes in another impressive outing this season, Nice Mace (668) bookended a 215 with a pair of 225 games, Kyle Kidman (632-244) has really elevated his game, and sparked by a 255, Al Schedin booked a 607.

In single game play, Jim Bice (668) led all bowlers with a 289 gem, Brandon Hadlock's (682) top-notch effort included a 267, Tyler Mickelson put together an 8-bagger in a 252, Jim Bingham notched a 216, and southpaw Dave Castro booked a 205.

Oh, bay-bee!

Fred Chappell spared the 4-7-10 ... Gail Carras picked up the 3-6-10 ... Vicki Pearson converted the 4-5-7 ... Arline San Antonio spared the 3-6-7-10.
