Tecumseh, Onsted girls track and field win regional championship

MILAN — The Tecumseh girls track and field team continued to bring home the hardware Friday as it won the MHSAA Division 2 regional championship.

Tecumseh posted a team score of 117, topping second place Monroe Jefferson by 25 points. Adrian finished 11th with 18 points.

Tecumseh won three of the four relays with Jordyn Wright and Dakota Schlorf being part of all three wins. Brianna Rhodea and Ella Bennett joined the duo to win the 4x100 (51.52) while Gabby Stintzi joined Wright, Schlorf and Rhodea to win the 4x200 (1:46.7).

Stintzi, Wright and Schlorf were joined by Chesney Wilke to win the 4x400 (4:10.99).

Wright added a fourth regional title in the pole vault with a height of 11-feet-0-inches while Wilke added a title in the 800-meter (2:20.1).

The 4x800 relay team of Emma Abbott, Kaylee Pesta, Emily Stevenson and Wilke also qualified for the state meet as they took second at 10:19.58.

Rhodea took second in the high hurdles (16.63) to qualify for the state meet while Morgan Stimpson, Lauren Stimpson and Adrian's Akkya Campbell all tied for second in the high jump at 5-feet.

Schlorf qualified for the state meet in the 100 (12.92) while Stintzi qualified in the 400 (1:00.62).

On the boys side, the Maples took third with a score of 70.5, trailing Pinckney with 95 points and Chelsea with 73. Tecumseh took sixth with a score of 58.

Gavin Chenevey, Liam Cornish, AJ Bryan and Draven Langsten won regional titles in the 4x100 (44.63) and 4x200 (1:32.03) for Tecumseh while Adrian won the 4x400 with Matthew Canales, Jake Eagling, Davon Edwards and Ben Schefka at 3:29.8.

Chenevey also qualified for the 100 (11.47) and 200 (23.5).

Eagling qualified by taking second in the 800 (2:00) and was joined by Schefka, Aiden Smith and Bryce Soule to take second in the 4x800 (8:13.96). Joe Francis took second in the high jump at 6-0.

Smith and Braylon Petty each met state qualifying times in the 3,200 at 9:48.23 and 9:52.98 respectively.

Clinton, Hudson, Onsted at MHSAA Division 3 Regional: At Hillsdale, the Onsted girls team brought home the Division 3 regional in dominating fashion.

The Wildcats won with a score of 111, topping second-place Hillsdale by 40 points while Clinton took 13th (24) and Hudson took 14th (23).

Emmry Ross led the way for the Wildcats as she won the 400 (57.84) and was joined by Rayne Ross, Allyson Robarge and Kennedy Ross to win the 4x200 (1:46.42) and then by Brooke Borders, Kara Terakedis and Kennedy Ross to win the 4x400 (4:10.79).

Kaylei Smith added a win in the intermediate hurdles (49.45).

Kennedy Ross advanced to the state meet in the 400 as she took second (59.0) as well as the intermediate hurdles (50.23).

Emmry Ross, Borders, Kamryn Ross and Terakedis advanced in the 4x800 as they took second at 10:11.11.

Terakedis took third in the 1,600 and advanced with her time of 5:19.57. Taylor Boss qualified for the discus with a throw of 105-02.

Hudson's Emily Czeiszperger took second in the pole vault to advance with a height of 10-3 while Annalyse Ames advanced as well at 8-9.

Clinton's 4x800 team of Samantha Coots, Zoey Sierer, Allison Bowles and Sarah King advanced with a time of 11:14.95.

On the boys side, Clinton took sixth with 48 points while Hudson was seventh at 44 and Onsted took 10th at 27. Hillsdale won the regional with a score of 107.

The Redwolves had Mason Brodie win the shot put (46-9) while the Tigers got a win in the pole vault from Alex Czeiszperger at 12-feet.

Brodie also advanced in the discus as he took second at 136-04 while his Clinton teammate Gabe Nelson advanced in the 3,200 (10:06.61).

Hudson's Steven Valdez took second in the 200 (23.88) and 400 (51.96) to advance. Tristan Bolenbaugh tied for second in the pole vault to advance at 11-3.

Onsted's Matt Cunningham took second in the pole vault to advance with a height of 11-3.

Morenci at MHSAA Division 4 Regional: At Hillsdale, the Bulldogs took fourth in both the boys and girls meet at the regional.

The girls team posted a score of 78 while Athens won the title with 154 points. The boys team tied with Colon with 61 points while Hillsdale Academy won with a score of 139.5.

Trey Nieman won a pair of regional titles for Morenci in the shot put (47-03) and the discus (146-05).

Carsyn Varga also qualified for the state meet as he took second in the high jump (5-11). Brodie Pike took third in the 100, but qualified with a time of 11.56.

On the girls side, Neili Pike advanced to the state meet as she took second in the 800 (2:27.99) while Leah Rorick took second in the intermediate hurdles (51.39), Clarissa Berger took second in the discus (102-07) and Libby Rorick took second in the long jump (15-10).

Pike and Leah Rorick were joined by Bryana Martinez and Kiana Castillo to take third in the 4x400 and qualified for the state meet with a time 4:22.28 with both Roricks, Castillo and Pike took fourth in the 4x800 and qualified with a time of 10:31.48.

Skye Molitierno took third in the discus and qualified for the state meet with a throw of 97-01.
