Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, Community Chorus to present holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 5
TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh Pops Orchestra and Community Chorus will perform their annual holiday concert, Yuletide Carols, on Sunday, Dec. 5.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Tecumseh Center for the Arts, 400 N. Maumee in Tecumseh. Tickets are $12 for adults or $10 for seniors and youth and can be bought at the TCA box office, online at www.thetca.org or by phone at 517-423-6617.
The Community Chorus will welcome its holiday concert conductor, Bill Abbott, to the stage. Abbott's experience includes trumpet and voice performance and teaching K-12 instrumental and vocal music for 10 years in Dundee and bands and choirs in Garden City for 22 years, a news release said. He retired from Garden City High School with a choral program that grew from 29 to 225 students.
Community Chorus songs will include such favorites as "I’ll Be Home for Christmas," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," and "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
The Pops Orchestra is conducted by Joe McInchak, who is also serving as the orchestra's music director. McInchak is in his 20th year of teaching music, with the last 15 years at Tecumseh Public Schools. He teaches the Tecumseh High School Symphony Band and Jazz Band and team-teaches fifth grade band with his wife, Kellie.
The Pops Orchestra will perform holiday favorites "It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas," "Silver Bells," "The Christmas Song," "Carol of the Drum," "I Saw Three Ships," "Here We Come A-Wassailing," and "Lo, How a Rose E’re Blooming."
The Orchestra and Chorus will combine to perform the Hallelujah Chorus from “The Messiah.”
