Ocasio-Cortez in January tweeted about the 'issue' of online trading platform Robinhood Markets Inc's decision to restrict retail trading in shares of GameStop and other stocks that have experienced dramatic gains.

She tweeted the restriction was "unacceptable," adding Congress needed to know more about Robinhood's decision "to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit."

Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican, took to Twitter retweeting Ocasio-Cortez with rare words of agreement, writing "Fully agree."

Then, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: "happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you [Ted Cruz] almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out."

Donald Trump's hold on the Republican Party was on display as an annual gathering of prominent U.S. conservatives began in earnest on Friday in Orlando Florida, with the former president expected to chart a future for the party with himself as the lead figure.

Cruz on Friday also told the crowd at CPAC: "Liberty is under assault and what are we going to do? I'll tell you. We will fight!" Adding, "Donald J. Trump ain't going anywhere."
