Ted Lasso season 3 spoilers follow.

Ted Lasso fans have weighed in on a special cameo appearance from renowned Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in the latest episode.

The football star shared the screen with Jason Sudeikis (aka Ted Lasso) in a special scene for season 3’s penultimate episode, which saw fictional team AFC Richmond take on Manchester City in a crucial Premier League game.

After a nail-biting battle on the pitch between both teams, Richmond emerge from the game triumphant. A thrilled Ted walks over to Guardiola to shake his head and commend his team for their efforts.

"I gotta be honest with you, you’re a tough guy to beat," Ted tells the Manchester City manager. Guardiola replies: “Don’t worry about the wins or losses. Just help these guys be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch.

"This, at the end, is the most important thing."

After delivering his lines, Guardiola proceeds to reunite with AFC Richmond player Jamie Tartt, who viewers will remember had a brief stint at Manchester City before returning to his current club in the show.

Guardiola’s cameo was kept a secret from fans, and viewers have been sharing their reactions to the surprise guest star online.

One Twitter user wrote: "Pep Guardiola is in Ted Lasso I’m howling," while another tweeted: "Did I just see actual Pep Guardiola in the new Ted Lasso episode."

One Ted Lasso fan found the match's result on the show highly entertaining, given Manchester City’s current status as the Premier League champions. “Pep Guardiola showing up on #TedLasso only for Man City to lose 2-0 to Richmond has sent me,” they tweeted.

Some fans even suggested that Guardiola should be commended for his acting efforts. "Pep Guardiola's Emmys campaign for guest actor in Ted Lasso starts NOW," wrote one user, with another tweeting: "I need a nomination for Pep Guardiola as guest actor in a comedy series, I can't believe that they managed to put him in the show.

"This is so important to me. The crossover we needed."

Jason Sudeikis has teased that season three is "the end" for the Emmy-award winning series, while fellow Ted Lasso stars Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster have said that there could be a future for the show past season three. Fans are still awaiting official confirmation on the show’s fate following its third outing.

Ted Lasso season 3 streams on Apple TV+, with new episodes every Wednesday.
