The publication also revealed Fernández has been cast in a Disney+ reimagination of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day as Chavo, a chef who meets the Garcia family while they are on a road trip.

Eva Longoria, Cheech Marin, Paulina Chávez and Rose Portillo will also appear in the film which tells the story of 11-year-old Alexander Garcia, who embarks on a trip to California with his family that becomes awkward as a family secret is revealed.

It's also been announced that What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillen will join the cast as a healer named Claudio. Production on the movie has started in New Mexico.

Fernández is currently appearing in what could be the final series of Ted Lasso, which sees the titular character, played by Jason Sudeikis, swap American football for British soccer as he is hired to coach a failing team.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the show's co-creator Brendan Hunt has stated that the future of the show is far from over, with a potential spin-off on the cards.

"We always saw it as a three-movement suite and we're at the end of that three movements, but we never could have expected the reaction that we're getting to the show, or could we have expected how f**king fun it is to do," said Hunt, who also stars on the show as Coach Beard.

"So we know we're going to take a little break. We're gonna get this season out there. We're gonna let the dust settle. And, yeah... Everything is possible as of now."

Ted Lasso season 3 streams on Apple TV+, with new episodes every Wednesday.
