Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed has shared the touching story behind a pivotal season 3 episode for his character.

Episode 10 of the current season saw Nate playing the violin as the backdrop to several important scenes playing out, and now Mohammed has explained more about the making of the scene, revealing Becka, his wife of 14 years, was also involved.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote "OK so this ep of #TedLasso is special for lots of reasons… but mostly because it’s my *incredible* wife playing the piano to Arvo Pärt’s ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ with me on my old violin from home! The piece was Jason’s idea: literally translates as ‘mirror in mirror’"

Mohammed learned to play violin as a child and also played in his university orchestra, at St Aidan’s College at Durham University, and the music provided the perfect backdrop for Rebecca's impassioned speech in the episode against Edwin Akufo's proposed Super League.

We also saw Jamie Tartt making his England debut with a tribute to his Richmond teammate Sam Obisanya. Earlier in the episode, Edwin told Sam that he blocked him being selected for the Nigerian national side, after Sam turned down an offer to move away from Richmond for Raja Casablanca in Morocco, after playing a key role in the team securing promotion back to the Premier League at the end of season 2.

As Nate continued his violin solo, his dad Lloyd walked in on him and an emotional conversation followed, focusing on the relationship between them when Nate was growing up. With only two more episodes remaining in what could possibly be the last season of the show, it remains to be seen what direction this will take Nate in.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard and is one of the show's bosses, says season 3 might not necessarily be the final outing for Ted and Richmond FC: "Does that mean it's the end of the series? Not necessarily.

"But at the very least after season three, we're going to take a break, get away from each other's pretty faces for a while, of which we are so tired.

"And then after that, everything's on the table."

Ted Lasso season 3 streams on Apple TV+, with new episodes every Wednesday.
