Ted Nugent in concert

Rock & Roll showman Ted Nugent will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Peoria Civic Center Theater. Tickets start at $43 and can be purchased at www.peoriaciviccenter.com.

Back to school giveaway

Dream Center Peoria, 714 Hamilton Blvd., will host a back-to-school giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 29. Over 2000 backpacks loaded with school supplies and 500 $10 uniform gift cards will be handed out (while supplies last). The event will also feature free haircuts, medical and dental exams, food, games and more. Children must be present to receive items.

Sports memorabilia auction

The Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers will be hosting their 16th Annual Sports Memorabilia Auction from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Par-A-Dice Hotel, 21 Blackjack Blvd., East Peoria. Ferguson Jenkins, Chicago Cubs’ 1991 Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher, will be attending as featured speaker. He will also be available to sign sports items throughout the evening. Celebrating Hispanic and Latino culture

Fiesta en el Rio, a music festival that celebrates Hispanic and Latino culture, will be held from 4 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at CEFCU Center Stage on the Peoria riverfront. The event will include authenticLatin American food and drink, a children’s area, entertaining and upbeat bands, salsa dancing lessons and much more. Admission is $10 per person and free for children ages 12 and under.

Plant-based expo

Riley's Vegan Eats & Sweets will present the Plant Based Peoria Expo from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Peoria Civic Center. The event will include 23 plant-based food and retail vendors, live music and kids activities. Admission is free.
