Teen allegedly stole $40,000 in jewelry from open house

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly stealing $40,000 worth of jewelry during an open house at a home in Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

- Deputies in Thousand Oaks have arrested a teenager in connection with a jewelry burglary during an open house showing. Authorities say about $40,000 worth of jewelry was stolen. The 16-year-old allegedly went to open houses since last October claiming to be 23 years old with access to millions of dollars.

He visited homes in Santa Rosa, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, and Malibu. Detectives served a search warrant at the suspect's home in Camarillo. Several pieces of jewelry were recovered as well as a list of homes and several yachts visited in Morrow Bay, Channel Islands, Marina Del Rey, Newport Beach, and San Diego. The teen was arrested.
