Teen arrested and another man is sought after gun sale gone bad, Gulfport police say

A man was shot Friday in Gulfport while trying to sell a gun to a teen, according to Gulfport police.

On Saturday, police arrested Cornelius Demetric Lampley Jr., 17, and charged him with one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.

Police report they are searching for Marcus Howard Peterson, 20, who has an active felony warrant in Gulfport and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The shooting happened at 1:25 p.m. Friday in the 13000 block of Dedeaux Road in Gulfport. The unidentified victim told police he was selling a firearm when Lampley and Peterson allegedly produced handguns and tried to rob him of the gun.

Both men fired, striking the victim, police said in a press release, then fled the scene.

Lampley is being held on $450,000 bond.
