Teen arrested in connection with fatal Inner Harbor shooting, Baltimore Police say

A 19-year-old was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, police said.

Dejuan Cole, a 19-year-old from Pikesville, was charged with first-degree murder and several other offenses in connection with the shooting last week that killed Devron Tyner, 17. Cole turned himself in on Monday, police said in a Tuesday news release.

Investigators had identified Cole as a suspect after reviewing video footage from the homicide near the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel on the 200 block of East Pratt Street, where Tyner was gunned down April 1. Charging papers say police tracked Cole’s movements that night and found that he had traveled by the city’s subway line with others, who have not been charged. The department released still photos to the public seeking the suspect’s identity.

Police also wrote in charging papers that Cole and four others were seen on the footage participating in “what this detective believes to be a robbery” but gave scant details on what that meant.

The case and attorney information for Cole are not yet available in online court records.

Tyner had been found that evening by a “concerned citizen” who heard gunshots, went to the hotel and performed CPR on Tyner, who was motionless on the ground, according to charging papers. He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he died. Police had said the fatal shooting at the end of spring break was an “isolated incident.”
