Authorities arrested a teenager at his Apple Valley home after they say he allegedly used a gun to rob a 58-year-old man of cash at a local Chase Bank ATM.

On Nov. 18, sheriff’s detectives from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at the teen’s home, where he was arrested and taken into custody.

The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at 7:06 a.m on Oct. 30, deputies were dispatched to the Chase Bank in the 20000 block of Highway 18.

Local maps show the Chase Bank to be located near Denny’s restaurant and west of Bass Hill Road.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that after the bank customer withdrew $500 from the ATM, he was approached by a red hoodie-wearing man, who allegedly pointed a handgun at him, sheriff's officials said.

The hooded individual then took all of the man’s cash and fled the location in a blue Honda Civic, the sheriff’s report stated.

On Oct. 31, deputies from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station located a stolen blue Honda Civic that matched the suspect’s vehicle from the armed robbery in Apple Valley, the report said.

The driver, the sole occupant of the Honda, was identified as a 16-year-old boy. Deputies also located a handgun near the stolen Honda Civic.

On Thursday, Nov. 18, detectives from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at the teen's residence.

During the search, pants matching what the teen suspect wore and a red hoodie were located. Upon completion of the search warrant, the teen was arrested

The teen was booked into the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center in Apple Valley on suspicion of robbery.
