Teen bashed with brick by stranger in unprovoked Chelsea, Manhattan street attack

A teenage boy was bashed in the head with a brick by a stranger during an unprovoked attack on a Chelsea street, police said Wednesday.

The victim was walking down W. 20th St. when the assailant ran up and struck him with the brick near 10th Ave. about 11:30 a.m. Monday, cops said.

The surprise attack left the victim with a broken orbital bone under one eye, police sources said. EMS rushed him to Lenox Hill Healthplex for treatment and he’s expected to survive his wounds, cops said.

The victim suffered a severe facial injury and was taken to Lenox Health Greenwich Village in stable condition.

The attacker ran off and has not been caught.

The victim told police he had never seen his attacker before and no words were exchanged.

On Wednesday, cops released surveillance video showing the suspect grabbing the brick from a sidewalk tree bed moments before the clash.

The video shows the suspect looking around while switching the brick from one hand to the other.

Cops are asking the public’s help identifying the suspect and tracking him down.

He is described as Black and in his 20s with a slim build and black hair. He was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants and white sneakers.
