Teen boy critically injured in South Shore shooting

CHICAGO — A teen boy is in critical condition after gunfire erupted on the city’s South Side on Monday afternoon.

According to Chicago police, it all unfolded just before 2:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of Kenwood Avenue in South Shore.

SkyCam 9 was over the area at around 3:45 p.m. when authorities could be spotted working the scene.

The 13-year-old boy was in an alley in the area when he was approached by two individuals who police say displayed guns and opened fire in his direction.

Police say the teen was shot three times and was later taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the gunfire and an investigation is now underway.

Officers did not provide a description of the individuals involved and police say no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
