Teen charged with attempted murder in connection with stabbing in West Hartford

A 16-year-old has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in West Harford on Monday night, police said.

The West Hartford Police Department responded to a residence on Federal Street just before 9 p.m. on Monday for a stabbing incident.

Officers located an adult victim at the scene and immediately rendered emergency medical care until West Hartford Fire Department paramedics and American Medical Response ambulance personnel took over after the scene was made safe. police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for serious neck injuries and is currently listed in stable condition, according to police.

The preliminary investigation reportedly led police to a 16-year-old juvenile suspect who does not live at the home, police said.

The teen suspect was taken into custody by West Hartford police and was held on an order to detain at juvenile detention. The juvenile is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, first-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation by the West Hartford Police Department Detective Division, police said.
