Teen in coma more than two years after hit-skip in Evanston has died

A 15-year-old boy who has been in a coma after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Evanston more than two years ago has died.

Jamarion Washington, who lived in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Columbia Tusculum, died Sunday at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.

Jamarion, then 12, was hit by a vehicle on Gilpin Avenue on Nov. 11, 2020. The driver was never found and Jamarion's family has urged people to contact the police with any information.

Jamarion had a heart attack and lost oxygen to his brain, Jamarion's family told Enquirer Media partner Fox19 last November.

“It’s traumatizing, it’s sickening, it’s heartbreaking, it’s suffocating, it’s a nightmare,” his grandmother, Djwna Ashley, said.
