Teen facing charges in shooting death of 15-year-old in north Lafayette

A 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 15-year-old in north Lafayette.

The 16-year-old, who was not named, was charged with second-degree murder and booked on Monday into the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center, according to Lafayette Police spokesperson Sgt. Robin Green.

Police were called at about 10:45 p.m. on June 21 to a home in the 800 block of South Sterling Street, which is near Moss Street by City Park.

When officers arrived, they found the 15-year-old boy, who had been shot, unresponsive, Green said in a release. The teen was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
