A teen girl was shot to death in a Coolidge drive-by shooting on Thursday, police said. The stolen vehicle involved was discovered in Gilbert, but no information on suspects has been released.

Just past midnight on Thursday, the Coolidge Police Department responded to a 911 call saying that a child had been shot at a residential address.

Once police and medical personnel arrived at the scene, they began lifesaving measures for the unresponsive 14-year-old girl who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, police said. She was taken to Florence Anthem Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Coolidge police.

Police said they have determined it was a drive-by shooting, as numerous 9 mm and .40-caliber spent casings were recovered from the street in front of the home where the shooting occurred.

"Over a dozen bullet holes pierced the front of the home, entering the living room and bedrooms," the Coolidge Police Department said.

The suspect vehicle, a blue colored Kia sedan, was reported stolen from Eloy and was later located unoccupied in Gilbert by the Gilbert Police Department, according to police.

The investigation was ongoing.
