Teen grabbed by community members after carjacking vehicle outside Queens mosque

A teen was caught by enraged community members after carjacking a vehicle outside a Queens mosque Friday, police said.

The thief — believed to be 13 years old — pepper-sprayed a man sitting in his car near the Al-Furqan Jame Masjid on 77th St. and Glenmore Ave. in Ozone Park around noon.

He forced the blinded motorist out of the car, then jumped in and sped off down Glenmore Ave. — only to crash the vehicle about two blocks away, cops said.

The teen tried to ditch the car, but witnesses including mosque worshippers grabbed him, police said.

Police took the teen into custody. No charges were immediately filed.

In Aug. 2016, a revered imam and his associate were gunned down at the same mosque by Oscar Morel after leaving Saturday prayers.

Morel was convicted of the double murder in 2018 and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
