Teen injured, no suspects after shooting in Northwest Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A teen was taken to the hospital after a fight that allegedly escalated into a shooting in Northwest Roanoke on Tuesday night.

Roanoke police say around 8:10 p.m. on Feb. 20, officers were called to the 700 block of 29th Street NW after reports of shots being fired in the area.

While en route, information was received that a person was found in a vehicle near 10th Street and Orange Avenue NW with a gunshot wound. Once at the scene, officers found a teenager in the back of a vehicle with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, the police department learned that several teenagers were allegedly involved in a fight at a home on 29th Street NW that led to the shooting. Investigators also located two teenage males who they currently believe to be involved in the shooting.

Police confirmed that a gun was recovered at the home.

We’re told no arrests have been made; however, everyone allegedly involved in the incident has been identified. Their names have currently not been released.
