A 17-year-old in Illinois accused of killing two protesters days after Jacob Blake was shot by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is fighting his return to Wisconsin to face homicide charges that could put him in prison for life. (Sept. 25)
MIKE NERHEIM: Governor Pritzker has signed the governor's warrant to send Mr. Rittenhouse to Wisconsin to face charges. We just received the physical copy of that warrant moments ago through FedEx. We presented that information to the court this morning.
The defense, Mr. Rittenhouse's attorneys, have asked for a date so they can take a look at that warrant, and they have indicated that they are going to challenge the extradition. We have not seen their filings. I do not know what the basis within which they are going to challenge or attempt to challenge the extradition.
