Teen killed and another injured in Hollywood shooting, police say

A teenage boy was killed and a teen girl injured during a shooting in Hollywood last week, police said in a statement Sunday afternoon.

The fatal incident was reported Thursday about 10:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Funston St., according to Hollywood Police Department. The couple was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition shortly before the 17-year-old boy died. The condition of the injured teen, a 16-year-old girl, is currently unknown.

Authorities said detectives believe the shooting is an isolated incident and is being investigated as a homicide. No additional information on suspects has been released since.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357 or 954-967-4411.

The shooting also comes two days after a 15-year-old from Surfside, Arya Gray, was shot and killed in Miami overnight Tuesday. Police say the teen suspect, who was Arya’s friend, was playing around with a stolen gun, aimed it at Arya’s head and shot her. Thalys Oliveira, the 17-year-old suspect who was charged as a juvenile last week, may face charges as an adult.
