Teen killed in NKY vehicle incident was a Kenton County Schools student

A 17-year-old boy was killed over the weekend in Independence, Ky. in an incident involved a motor vehicle, according to the Independence Police Department.

Capt. Russ Wood said the incident occurred between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday on 355 Independence Station Road.

He declined to provide additional information regarding the circumstances of the teen's death, saying the investigation is ongoing.

Wood said there were other juvenile passengers in the vehicle though no other injuries were reported.

The Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed on Tuesday that the victim is 17-year-old Reuben Hinsdale.

A spokesperson with Kenton County Schools said Hinsdale was a student at the district. The district said Hinsdale was an organ donor.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover the cost of final expenses and has raised $22,680 as of Tuesday morning.

"Reuben will be missed by so many and was loved more than he ever knew," the page reads. "We do take comfort that his donation will keep him alive in the lives he is now able to save."
