Teen motorcyclist dies in SUV collision on North Mesa Street in West El Paso
A 19-year-old motorcyclist died at a hospital on Saturday, a day after a colliding with an SUV in West El Paso, police officials said Sunday.
The collision occurred at about 2:18 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at North Mesa Street and Kern Drive near Mesita Elementary School, El Paso police officials said.

Diego Ivan Benjamin Martinez was riding a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Mesa Street when a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan pulled out or turned in front of the motorcycle, police said in a news release. The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the Tiguan.
Martinez, of West El Paso, was critically injured and taken to a hospital. Investigators were notified on Saturday, Sept. 30, that Martinez had died, officials said.
The SUV driver, Rosa Valenzuela De Herrera, 84, of the East Side, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The police Special Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the accident.
There have been 56 traffic-related deaths in El Paso this year compared with 53 deaths at the same time last year, according to Police Department figures.
