Teen suspect in jail for deadly triple-shooting linked to 2020 murder, Jacksonville police say

A local teenager is charged with murder in the July 2020 fatal shooting of a man on Century 21 Drive, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Police say Owen Maoma Laureano Cosme, 19, shot the victim multiple times.

Cosme was already in jail. He is one of four people charged in the fatal shooting of three people at the Calloway Cove apartments on Moncrief Road last year.

Action News Jax told you Feb. 8, 2021, that officers with JSO’s gang unit heard gunshots coming from the apartment complex and saw a dark-colored vehicle driving erratically away from the scene. According to JSO, officers followed and were quickly led on a nearly three-mile high-speed chase. While being taken into custody, police say the teenagers shouted, “We didn’t shoot those people.”

In a later press conference, JSO Director of Investigations Mike Bruno released the names of the four teens and their charges.

  • Kyshawn Glover, 17 – Murder, criminal conspiracy

  • Owen Laureano Cosme, 17 – Murder

  • Keon Lester, 18 – Murder, criminal conspiracy

  • Alana Sears, 14 – Murder, criminal conspiracy, fleeing a law enforcement officer, accessory

The victims were Sara Cancel Urriola, a 30-year-old mother, and two adult men.
