Teen told Chicago police he was shot on West Side, but police say he was actually wounded during ’gunfight’ in DeKalb

For some reason — police haven’t quite figured it out yet — a man falsely claimed he had been shot at a block party on the West Side when he was actually wounded during a “gunfight” after an accident in DeKalb 60 miles away, Chicago police said.

The man, 18, showed up at Rush Oak Park Hospital early on the morning of Aug. 24 with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, according to Chicago police. He told officers he was Joshua Clark and had been shot at a vacant lot at Madison Street and Pulaski Road.

“He heard seven shots and his cousin told him he was shot,” a police report states.

He told investigators that he went to his home in the 7800 block of South Crandon Avenue, changed clothes and took an Uber to Rush Oak Park Hospital, according to the report.
