Troutman teen tossed backpack, facing drug charges after weekend traffic stop: Police

TROUTMAN, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Troutman Police say they arrested an 18-year-old woman on multiple drug charges involving marijuana, heroin, and fentanyl Saturday.

Officers say they stopped Madison Santana, a Troutman resident, in the 100 block of South Main Street around 5 p.m. Saturday, along with three others in a Ford truck.

Santana, who was a passenger, threw a backpack out of the vehicle and underneath the truck.

Officers retrieved the backpack and found 33 blue tablets that tested positive for fentanyl, 2.08 grams of a powdered substance that tested positive for fentanyl, 9.78 ounces of THC wax, and 4.46 ounces of marijuana.

Santana admitted to officers that the backpack belonged to her, and officers arrested her.

Santana is facing the following charges of:

  • felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance

  • felony possession of marijuana

  • felony possession with intent to sell/deliver a Schedule I controlled substance

  • felony trafficking opium/heroin by possession and transporting

  • possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia

Santana went before the magistrate and is being held a $300,000 secure bond.
