Teenager charged as adult with murder in hunter's death

ADRIAN — A 17-year-old has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a hunter in November.

Trenton Karl-Mark Berry is charged with open murder and felony firearms in the death of Kirt Stubbins. Berry is charged as an adult. He was arraigned Tuesday in Lenawee County District Court, and bond was set at $10 million on the murder charge and $500,000 on the felony firearms case, a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said. A probable cause conference is scheduled for Feb. 27 and a preliminary examination is scheduled for March 5, according to online court records.

Stubbins, 41, of Addison died Nov. 30 at the scene of the shooting in the 15000 block of Rome Road in Rollin Township, the sheriff's office previously reported.

Berry's mother was dating Stubbins, the sheriff's office said in its release Tuesday.

Lenawee County Central Dispatch received a call about the shooting at 9:43 a.m. Nov. 30 and dispatched emergency medical personnel and law enforcement officers to the scene, the sheriff's office previously reported. The Addison Fire Department and Michigan Department of Natural Resources assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
