Teenager dead, man injured in Sunday morning shooting in Salisbury: Police

Maryland State Police say they are searching for suspects in a shooting Sunday morning in Salisbury that left a teenager dead and a man in hospital with gunshot wounds.

Salisbury Police Department officers responded shortly after midnight April 16 to 911 calls reporting shots fired in the 300 block of East Carroll Street in Salisbury near Buena Vista Avenue.

Officers found the two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said in a release.

Police identified the teenager as  Ja’siah Sin’cer Johnson, 16, of Salisbury. Johnson was taken from the scene to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The injured victim was identified as Jamere Capri Maynes, 22, of Salisbury. He is receiving treatment for his injuries at the Salisbury hospital.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was requested to respond and take the lead on this investigation.  Additional assistance is being provided by State Police Criminal Enforcement Division investigators, as well as detectives and officers from the Salisbury Police Department.
