The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning shooting incident by Cascades Park that injured a teenager.

Not long after midnight, officers were called to the area of East Bloxham Street and South Calhoun Street regarding shots fired, according to a TPD incident alert.

They found a 17-year-old boy with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated, according to TPD.

"Officers collected shell casings and witness statements, and the investigation is currently open and active," TPD said. "No arrests have been made at this time."

The Democrat has inquired with TPD if the victim was the intended target of the shooting or if he was an innocent bystander, but did not immediately hear back.

This is the 29th serious shooting in the capital city and county. So far this year, 11 people have died and at least 21 people have been injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
