Residents in East Bridgewater didn't know their torn-up roads were private ways. What now?

Michael Lee lives at the bottom of River Road in East Bridgewater. His blue house is the only home sitting on the cul de sac. The circle-shaped road itself is crumbled and cracked and full of potholes. “They throw tar at it and call it a day,” said Lee, 48. The cul de sac is in such disrepair that kids can’t ride their bikes on the street. Elderly residents don’t take walks down the road. The city comes to plow and sweep the streets, Lee said, but never comes to pave.
