Tekashi 6ix9ine arrested by federal agents on racketeering charges [Updated]

The 22-year-old rapper appeared in court on Monday, where he entered a not guilty plea on all counts.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested by federal agents on Sunday night, according to TMZ. The 22-year-old rapper is reportedly facing federal racketeering and firearm charges.

Along with 6ix9ine, his former manager and three other associates were also arrested, TMZ reports.

Update – 6:15 p.m. EST: The indictment names Tekashi 6ix9ine (née Daniel Hernandez) and his ex-manager Shotti (Kifano Jordan), along with Ish (Jensel Butler), Crippy (Faheem Walter), and Fu Banga (Fuguan Lovick), according to the New York Daily News. All five men are said to be members of the Bloods street gang known as Nine Trey Bloods.

Among the 17 counts, the group is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, and distribution of heroin, fentanyl, MDMA and marijuana — all of which was carried out to maintain the gang’s “power, territory and profits,” the indictment reads.

The alleged crimes took place between 2013 to present day. Some of the more serious crimes occurred in just the last few months, as the Daily News outlines:

On April 3, Tekashi, Jordan, Butler and Walter robbed rivals at gunpoint at 40th St. and 8th Ave., the indictment charges. On April 21, Lovick fired one shot inside the Barclays Center, according to the indictment.

Manhattan prosecutors have said the incident during a boxing match at the arena stemmed from Tekashi’s beef with the rapper Cassanova. On July 16, Tekashi, Jordan, Butler and Walter conspired to kill “an individual who had shown disrespect to Nine Trey,” according to the indictment. The plan didn’t work and an innocent bystander was shot at Fulton St. and Utica Ave., authorities said.

Update – 10:45 p.m. EST: If found guilty, 6ix9ine faces a minimum of 32 years and a maximum of a life in prison. A federal judge denied his attorney’s request for bail.

Late last week, 6ix9ine announced that he had fired his entire team, including his manager, alleging that they had stolen money from him.

6ix9ine was already on probation for several crimes, including a 2015 sex crime case involving a child, as well as for a disorderly conduct charge stemming from an altercation he had with a police officer in May of this year.

Hours before his latest arrest, 6ix9ine revealed the title and tracklist for his new album, Dummy Boy, which was scheduled for release on Friday, November 23rd.
