HILLSDALE, MI. — Despite a cold shooting night the Tekonsha Indians took care of business on the road Tuesday night, defeating the Will Carleton Academy Cougars by the score of 52-46.

Tekonsha trailed 9-7 after one but battled back to outscore the Cougars 17-4 in the second quarter to build a sizable 24-13 lead at the half.

Will Carleton cut into the Tekonsha lead with a solid third quarter, outscoring the Indians 17-13, sending the game to the fourth quarter with Tekonsha holding the 37-30 lead.

Tekonsha held off a late Will Carleton run as the Cougars outscored Tekonsha 16-15, finding the final score of 52-46.

“It was a struggle tonight, we couldn’t make shots and we got into foul trouble early,” said Tekonsha head coach Tim Jenkins. “Isaac Henry and Blake Griffith stepped up offensively for us in the second half, with Blake knocking down three huge 3 pointers. Jake (Boring) still managed to score 17 points despite a little bit of an off shooting night.”

Tekonsha saw three players reach double figures, led by Jake Boring who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior point guard Issac Henry had a big scoring night for Tekonsha, pouring in 16 points to go with six rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Big man Blake Griffith also had a big night for the Indians, scoring 15 points thanks in large part to a trio of 3 pointers. Griffith also added three rebounds, two assists and one steal in the victory.

Also adding to the Tekonsha effort was Claude Wart with two points, three rebounds and two steals; Emmitt Blashfield with two steals and two rebounds; Ashton White with three rebounds; Collin Newland with two rebounds; and Wyatt Blashfield with three points and eight rebounds.

Will Carleton saw two players hit double figures as Tyler Slade and Thomas Maier both scored 16 points in the loss.

With the loss Will Carleton falls to 7-14 overall on the year.

With the win Tekonsha improves to 13-8 overall on the year and will finish out their 2022-23 regular season with a trip to St. Phil on Thursday.
