Tell Us Which TV Main Characters Were Pushed Aside To Put A Side Character In The Spotlight

Most TV shows have a clear main character, and everyone else is a member of the supporting cast. Sometimes, however, one of the more interesting side characters becomes so popular with fans that the show shifts to focus on them instead.

The most famous example of this is Steve Urkel, who went from a one-off joke character to the star of Family Matters.

There's also the Fonz taking over Happy Days, which started as a show about Richie Cunningham.

As a more recent example, The Big Bang Theory started with Leonard as the protagonist but eventually shifted its focus to Sheldon, especially in the last few seasons.

Or, there's Orange Is the New Black, which started off with Piper as the protagonist but basically became an ensemble show.
