Can't afford to shell out $112,000 for the new-for-America 2020 Audi RS 6 Avant, but still want that big fast Audi wagon experience? This 2003 RS 6 Avant, which was never sold in America, just popped up for sale on eBay Motors in Arizona. The seller claims it's been fully federalized for use on U.S. roads, with approvals from the DOT, EPA, and NHTSA.

Normally, you'd have to wait 25 years to import a car not originally sold on our shores, but if you'd rather not wait, you can have the car federalized to meet all U.S. laws and regulations. That means modifying it with things like the correct lighting, safety equipment, and emissions controls to adhere with our laws. It's an incredibly expensive process, which is why you don't see it too often. The seller undoubtedly spent a lot of money to get it here.

Mechanically, the car is identical to the early 2000s RS 3 sedan sold stateside. That means under the hood sits a twin-turbo 4.2-liter V-8 making 450 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, sending power to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission and Audi's signature Quattro all-wheel drive system. The seller says they've addressed some maintenance items, and installed four new tires. The odometer shows 87,300 miles.

The seller, a dealer in Mesa, Arizona, says the car will come with a clean Arizona title and a VIN. Interestingly, it's one of two federalized RS 6 Avants it currently has in stock. They're asking $39,995 on eBay right now, which, considering the cost to get it here legally, doesn't seem too unreasonable.
