Ten MMC clinics are hospital-based outpatient facilities

Feb. 9—Meadville Medical Center (MMC) has expended some of its services into hospital-based or provider-based outpatient departments. As hospital-based outpatient departments, they are considered part of the hospital.

The move allows MMC to retain high-quality physicians and invest in the latest technology to serve health care needs, according to hospital officials.

With some offices a hospital-based outpatient department, a patient will see two types of charges for health care received at an outpatient clinic. One charge is the department or medical technical fee, and the other is the professional or physician's fee.
