Tenafly man found dead in Jersey City from apparent shooting

A 23-year-old Tenafly man was found dead from what authorities described as an apparent shooting on Dales Avenue in Jersey City on Tuesday night, according to prosecutors. But no arrests have been made, and investigators are asking for the public's help in tracking down a potential shooter.

The body of Jovahn Horne was discovered when police responded to the area at 9:05 p.m. after a report of gunfire, said Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez. Horne appeared to have suffered a wound to his abdomen and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:41 p.m.

While Horne's death is being investigated as a shooting, authorities were still waiting for the Regional Medical Examiner's Office to issue an official cause and manner of death as of Wednesday.

In the meantime, prosecutors urge anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact their office by calling (201) 915-1345. Residents can also offer information anonymously at hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip.
