Tenancy feud between Pittsburgh International Airport and its Airmall operator lands in court
A tenancy-related feud between Pittsburgh International Airport and its Airmall operator, Fraport Pittsburgh Inc., has ended up in court, with the airport’s manager on Tuesday filing a response to Fraport’s initial motion.
In court documents filed with the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on June 16, Fraport — formally known as Airmall Pittsburgh Inc. and the exclusive lessee of commercial concession spaces at PIT — requested an emergency motion for a preliminary injunction to prevent the Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA), PIT’s managing organization, from evicting Fraport out of the airport, among other requests.
Judge Christine Ward granted Fraport’s request that same day, temporarily allowing the operator of PIT’s Airmall to return to its locations within the airside and landside terminals of Pittsburgh’s largest airport. This has allowed Fraport to resume operations as-was before ACAA’s eviction pending a hearing in the coming days or weeks that will determine if Fraport can continue operations at PIT while the lawsuit progresses.
