Lots of players with local ties made NFL 53-man rosters, practice squads or are currently on injured reserve. The only high school players on this list are from the Middle Tennessee area.

Here are some off those players heading into the 2022 season:

• Micah Abernathy, safety, UT, Green Bay (practice squad): Signed with Green Bay on Aug. 10 after not playing in the NFL last season.

• Ugo Amadi, safety, Overton, Titans: Had 54 tackles, an interception and defended five passes in 2021 at Seattle. Traded to the Titans Aug. 24 for two future draft picks.

• Genard Avery, linebacker, Memphis, Tampa Bay (practice squad): Spent the last three seasons on Philadelphia's active roster.

• Derek Barnett, defensive end, Brentwood Academy, UT, Philadelphia: Headed into his sixth NFL season coming off his most productive year with 46 tackles.

• C.J. Beathard, quarterback, BGA, Jacksonville: Played sparingly in two games last season and completed two passes for 33 yards.

• Reed Blankenship, safety, MTSU, Philadelphia: Signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 draft.

Khari Blasingame, fullback, Vanderbilt, Chicago: After three seasons as a part-time starter for the Titans, Blasingame is on the Bears’ first team.

• C.J Board, wide receiver, West Creek, N.Y. Giants (practice squad): Elevated to the active roster for three games in 2021.

• Chandler Brewer, offensive lineman, MTSU, Los Angeles Rams (practice squad): Spent last season on the practice squad.

Oren Burks, linebacker, Vanderbilt, San Francisco: Traded from Green Bay in March. Burks will start the season on special teams and be the first weakside linebacker off the bench.

• Matthew Butler, defensive tackle, UT, Las Vegas: Selected by the Raiders in the fifth round of the 2022 draft.

Kevin Byard, safety, MTSU, Tennessee: Led the Titans in 2021 with five interceptions and 88 tackles, becoming the franchise’s first player to lead the team in tackles and interceptions in the same season.

Marquez Callaway, wide receiver, UT, New Orleans: Led the Saints in receiving yards (698) and receiving touchdowns (six) in 2021. Had a career-high 46 catches.

• Ty Chandler, running back, MBA, UT, Minnesota: The Vikings selected Chandler in the fifth round of the draft.

Chris Claybrooks, cornerback, McGavock/Memphis, Jacksonville: Started in two games in 2021 and played in 16. Made 29 tackles, defended two passes.

• Justin Coleman, cornerback, UT, Seattle: Coleman spent 2017-18 with Seattle, 2019-20 with Detroit, 2021 with Miami and is now back with Seattle. Started four games, had 27 tackles and two interceptions in 2021.

• Morgan Cox, long snapper, UT, Tennessee: Has appeared in 182 regular-season games, including 17 with the Titans after signing as a free agent in the 2021 offseason.

• Zach Cunningham, linebacker, Vanderbilt, Tennessee: Saw action in 14 combined games with the Texans and Titans in 2021 and recorded 92 tackles with seven for loss.

• Joshua Dobbs, quarterback, UT, Cleveland: Signed by the Browns as an unrestricted free agent in April. Played in a total of six games since being selected by Pittsburgh in the 2017 draft.

Tyrel Dodson, linebacker, Centennial, Buffalo: Played in 26 games and started in two over the last two seasons. Has 37 tackles in his career.

• Corn Elder, cornerback, Ensworth, Washington (practice squad): Played in five games and defended one pass in 2021.

• Jake Elliott, kicker, Memphis, Philadelphia: Made the 2021 Pro Bowl after setting a franchise-record at 90.9% on field goals (30-33).

• Jacobi Francis, defensive back, Memphis, Houston (practice squad): Signed by the Texans as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 draft.

Kenneth Gainwell, running back, Memphis, Philadelphia: Listed No. 2 on the depth chart. Started one game and played in 16 last season. Rushed for 291 yards and five touchdowns.

• Allan George, cornerback, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati (practice squad): Signed by the Bengals as an undrafted free agent after the 2022 draft.

• Antonio Gibson, running back, Memphis, Washington: Rushed for 1,037 yards on 258 carries and scored seven touchdowns last season.

• Darius Harris, linebacker, MTSU, Kansas City: Played in seven games last season and made one tackle.

• Casey Hayward, cornerback, Vanderbilt, Atlanta: Heads into his 10th NFL season after starting every game last season for Las Vegas and recording 46 tackles and an interception.

• Darrell Henderson, running back, Memphis, Los Angeles Rams: Started in 10 games in 2021 and rushed for a career-high 688 yards on 149 carries and scored five touchdowns.

• Tre Herndon, cornerback, Vanderbilt, Jacksonville: Played in nine games and started in three in 2021. Made 17 tackles.

• Will Holden, offensive tackle, Vanderbilt, N.Y. Giants (practice squad): Played in 14 games with one start for the Lions in 2021.

• Brycen Hopkins, wide receiver, Ensworth, Los Angeles Rams: Played in five games in 2021 and had one catch for nine yards.

• Tanner Hudson, tight end, Camden, N.Y. Giants: Played in two games last season for the 49ers. Signed by the Giants in the preseason.

• Bryce Huff, defensive lineman, Memphis, N.Y. Jets: Started in seven games and recorded 14 tackles and two sacks in 2021.

• Theo Jackson, safety, Overton, UT, Tennessee (practice squad): Selected in the sixth round by the Titans in the 2022 draft.

• Jakob Johnson, fullback, UT, Las Vegas: Played in 17 games with six starts for New England in 2021. Had four catches for 43 yards. Released by the Patriots in March and signed by the Raiders.

• JaWuan James, offensive lineman, UT, Baltimore: Returning to the NFL after a two-year absence (sat out 2020 because of COVID and 2021 with torn Achilles).

• Richie James, wide receiver, MTSU, N.Y. Giants: Missed last season with a knee injury. Spent his first three seasons with the 49ers and had 38 catches for 689 yards and three touchdowns.

• Van Jefferson, wide receiver, Ravenwood, Los Angeles Rams: Second on the team in 2021 with 802 receiving yards and third in catches with 50.

• Jauan Jennings, wide receiver, Blackman, UT, San Francisco: Had 24 catches for 282 yards and five touchdowns last season.

• Robert Jones, offensive lineman, MTSU, Miami: Headed into his second season after playing in eight games in 2021.

• Velus Jones Jr., wide receiver, UT, Chicago: Selected by the Bears in the third round of the 2022 draft.

• Alvin Kamara, running back, UT, New Orleans: Had 898 rushing yards and four touchdowns along with 439 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 2021.

• John Kelly Jr., running back, UT, Cleveland (practice squad): Played in four games last season. Carried twice for 13 yards.

• Dawson Knox, tight end, Brentwood Academy, Buffalo: Had 49 catches for 587 yards and nine touchdowns last season.

Jonathan Kongbo, linebacker, UT, Denver (practice squad): Signed a reserve/future contract with the Broncos in January then added to the practice squad Aug. 30. Spent the 2021 season in the CFL.

• Arthur Maulet, cornerback, Memphis, Pittsburgh: Going into his seventh season after recording a career-high 47 tackles in 2021.

• Jordan Mason, running back, Gallatin, San Francisco: The 49ers signed Mason as an undrafted free agent in August.

• Shaq Mason, offensive lineman, Columbia, Tampa Bay: Heading into his eighth NFL season with a new team after spending the first seven at New England.

• Jordan Matthews, tight end, Vanderbilt, San Francisco (injured reserve): After spending seven NFL seasons as a wide receiver Matthews is transitioning to tight end.

• Bobby McCain, safety, Memphis, Washington: Going into his eighth NFL season and second with Washington. Started 16 games in 2021 and had 63 tackles and five interceptions.

• Conor McDermont, offensive lineman, Ensworth, N.Y. Jets: In his fifth NFL season McDermont played in six games and started in three in 2021.

• Kahlil McKenzie, offensive lineman, UT, Baltimore (practice squad): Played in a total of 12 games for Cincinnati and Baltimore over the last two seasons.

• Anthony Miller, wide receiver, Memphis, Pittsburgh (injured reserve): Played in one game and had one catch last season.

• Emmanuel Moseley, cornerback, UT, San Francisco: Started 11 games and had 42 tackles and one interceptions in 2021.

• Dayo Odeyingbo, defensive end, Vanderbilt, Indianapolis: Played as a backup in 10 games as a rookie in 2021. Recorded three tackles and forced a fumble.

• Joshua Palmer, wide receiver, UT, Los Angeles Chargers: Started in five games in 2021 and had 33 catches for 353 yards and four touchdowns.

• Lucas Patrick, offensive lineman, Brentwood, Chicago: Started 13 games for Green Bay last season, his fifth in the NFL. Signed a two-year deal with the Bears in the offseason.

• Cordarrelle Patterson, running back, UT, Atlanta: Rushed for 610 yards on 153 carries and scored six touchdowns. Had 548 receiving yards on 52 catches for five touchdowns.

• Riley Patterson, kicker, Memphis, Jacksonville: Made 13 of 14 field goals while playing for Detroit in seven games in 2021. Claimed off waivers on Sept. 1 by Jacksonville.

• Jacob Phillips, linebacker, East Nashville, Cleveland: Missed most of last season with a biceps injury. Listed along with Anthony Walker Jr. on the first team at middle linebacker.

• Jared Pinkney, tight end, Vanderbilt, Los Angeles Rams (practice squad): Played in two games and started one in 2021.

• Tony Pollard, running back, Memphis, Dallas: Rushed for 719 yards on 130 carries and scored two touchdowns last season.

• Jalen Ramsey, cornerback, Brentwood Academy, Los Angeles Rams: Named All-Pro for the third time and to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in 2021. Had 77 tackles, defended 12 passes and had four interceptions.

• Jalen Reeves-Maybin, linebacker, Northeast, UT, Houston: Made 82 tackles and forced two fumbles in 2021.

• Cade Mays, offensive lineman, UT, Carolina: Selected by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2022 draft.

Nathan Peterman, quarterback, UT, Chicago (practice squad): Played in one game in each of the last two seasons and a total of 10 in his career.

• Trent Sherfield, wide receiver, Vanderbilt, Miami: Signed an unrestricted free agent deal in March with Miami after spending last season with San Francisco. Had nine catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in 17 games for the 49ers.

• Lachavious Simmons, offensive lineman, TSU, Chicago (practice squad): Saw action in two games and started one in 2021.

Trey Smith, offensive lineman, UT, Kansas City: Smith and Chiefs center Creed Humphrey started all 17 regular season games in 2021, becoming the 17th and 18th players in franchise history to start all regular season games in their rookie season.

• Cameron Sutton, cornerback, UT, Pittsburgh: Started every game and had 52 tackles and two interceptions in 2021.

• Alontae Taylor, cornerback, UT, New Orleans: The Saints selected Taylor in the second round of the 2022 draft.

• Darrell Taylor, linebacker, UT, Seattle: Recorded 37 tackles and forced a fumble in five starts last season.

• Patrick Taylor, running back, Memphis, Green Bay (practice squad): Played in nine games, rushed for 89 yards on 23 carries and scored one touchdown in 2021.

• Shy Tuttle, defensive tackle, UT, New Orleans: In his first season as a starter, Tuttle made 48 tackles, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.

• Ke'Shawn Vaughn, running back, Pearl-Cohn, Vanderbilt, Tampa Bay: Rushed for a total of 289 yards on 62 carries and scored two touchdowns in two seasons with the Buccaneers.

• Kendal Vickers, defensive tackle, UT, Las Vegas: Played in one game in 2021 after playing in 15 the year before.

• Charvarius Ward, cornerback, MTSU, San Francisco: After spending four seasons with Kansas City, Ward signed a three-year deal with the 49ers in May. Has 210 career tackles, 29 defended passes and four interceptions.

• Stephen Weatherly, defensive end, Vanderbilt, Cleveland (injured reserve): Signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent in April heading into his eighth NFL season.

• Joejuan Williams, cornerback, Father Ryan, Vanderbilt, New England (injured reserve): Played in 12 games and started in one in 2021. Made 21 tackles and defended five passes.
