In the wake of the Covenant School shooting, Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost and Michael Che ridiculed freshman Congressman Andy Ogles over the weekend for a Christmas card featuring his family holding assault rifles.

During the Weekend Update, the two hosts shifted toward the topic when Che mentioned President Biden's call on Congress for gun control.

The morning of March 27, three children and three adult staff members were killed at Covenant School in one of Tennessee's deadliest school shootings. Audrey Hale, 28, was shot and killed by Nashville police about 10 minutes after the gunfire began in the school. Hale used an assault rifle during the attack.

During Saturday's SNL episode, the camera shifted from Che to Jost — copy of the Ogles Christmas photo appeared on the screen to his left. In the image, Ogles, his wife and two of his three children posed holding firearms. The photo has been shared in recent days on social media.

"Congressman Andy Ogles who represents the district where the Nashville shooting took place is being criticized for a Christmas card where he and his family are holding assault rifles," Jost said. "Even putting aside mass shootings, who are you psychos sending these cards to? If I received that in the mail, I would move. All this card tells you is 'I am armed, I have terrible judgement and I know where you live.'"

Ogles has recently been under the spotlight after he was "mistaken" about the degree he earned from Middle Tennessee State University and for not answering questions about funds raised for a children's memorial space that never came to fruition.

Che took another hit at the gun control debate, calling out a heated exchange between U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-NY, and U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-KY.

"Democratic representative Jamaal Bowman and Thomas Massie got in a screaming match on Capitol Hill after Bowman called the GOP “gutless cowards” for opposing gun control," Che said. "Which is a cheap shot because if there’s one thing republicans definitely have, it’s big ole guts."
