Tennessee football lands kicker Charles Campbell, Indiana transfer

Tennessee football landed kicker Charles Campbell as a transfer Wednesday, filling the position after UT's top two kickers graduated.

The Indiana transfer announced his decision on Twitter. He is the second transfer to commit to Tennessee on Wednesday, joining tight end McCallan Castles.

Campbell is a Jackson, Tennessee, native and attended University School of Jackson. He was the No. 9 kicker in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports, and was an Army All-American.

Campbell was a second-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and media following the 2020 season when he was 10 of 11 on field goals and made all 25 PAT attempts. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound Campbell is 5-for-7 in his career on field goals of 50 yards or more. He is 14-for-18 on field goals between 40 and 49 yards.

Tennessee kicker Chase McGrath graduated following the 2022 season. Backup Toby Wilson also graduated.

Castles announced his transfer from UC-Davis earlier Wednesday. Castles, a 6-5, 233-pounder, was an FCS All-American and All-Big Sky first-team selection at UC-Davis. He transferred there in 2019 after spending one season in the Pac-12 at Cal. In three seasons at UC-Davis, Castles had 69 receptions for 928 yards and nine touchdowns. This season he had 30 catches for 347 yards and two touchdowns.
