Tennessee football and Alabama finally arrive at their "Third Saturday in October" rivalry game, and this one could be special.

The Crimson Tide has won 15 straight in the series since Nick Saban took the helm. But the Vols may have their best shot score their first win in the series since 2006 with a top-ranked unit in total offense.

No. 8 Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) plays No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0) at 3:30 p.m. ET amid a sellout crowd at Neyland Stadium. It will be televised nationally on CBS.

Tennessee football score vs Alabama: Live updates

Fourth quarter

FINAL: Chase McGrath's 40-yard field goal, though wobbly, is good! TENNESSEE WINS 52-49!

2 seconds left: Bru McCoy with a great catch to the Alabama 22-yard line. Timeout Vols.

Chase McGrath will have a chance from 41 yards out.

9 seconds left: Hendon Hooker to Ramel Keyton to midfield.

PAT good. Tennessee 49, Alabama 49. Buckle up.

3:47 left: Hendon Hooker heaves a ball toward the end zone on 4th and 6, and it's intercepted by Kool-Aid McKinstry.

Except Malachi Moore is called for defensive pass interference. 1st and 10 on the Alabama 13-yard line. Huge play.

Bad handoff turns into Alabama TD, Tide lead

7:49 left: What a mistake. Jabari Small and Hendon Hooker mishandle the handoff, and Dallas Turner scoops and scores. A big turnaround. First huge mistake for the Vols.

Alabama 49, Tennessee 42. Neyland Stadium mood has changed.

Bryce Young wills Alabama to game-tying drive

Jalin Hyatt sets a record, and UT retakes the lead

Two-point conversion good, with a shovel pass to Princeton Fant converting.

It is Hyatt's fourth TD catch of the game, a single-game UT record.

Tennessee 42, Alabama 35.

Third quarter

Alabama finally scores on long drive, has first lead of game

4:27 left: That was an eventful way to get to a Jahmyr Gibbs short touchdown.

After a Jase McClellan touchdown was nullified by a holding penalty, a questionable pass interference penalty sets up 1st and goal. Gibbs beat the UT defense to the left for the touchdown.

Alabama ties the game after Vols fail on fourth down

11:11 left: Jahmyr Gibbs breaks a tackle and jogs into the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown. Ja'Corey Brooks snags a Bryce Young two-point conversion pass to tie the game. Key play was a 36-yard Jermaine Burton catch on a jump ball down the left hash.

That first quarter pressure from the Vols' defense was non-existent on that drive.

Tennessee 28, Alabama 28.

12:15 left: Questionable decision there for the Vols on fourth down. Not necessarily on the decision to go on the Alabama 42-yard line, but for the play call to be a quick throw to Jacob Warren short of the sticks on 4th and 2. Alabama's defense gets the stop.

A ridiculously long review after the down markers on the field didn't flip to fourth down. No changes after a minutes-long review.

12:45 left: Hendon Hooker skies one over Ramel Keyton on what could have been a very long play. Wow.

First quarter

40 seconds left: Jahmyr Gibbs may see a full day's work. A first down catch and a first down carry helps the Tide drive inside the red zone.

Is the rout on? Jalin Hyatt's second TD of the day puts Vols up 21-7

Let's kick it off.

Pregame

ESPN's College GameDay is over (hint: Vol fans will like Lee Corso's pick), the Vol Walk is complete and warmups are beginning inside Neyland Stadium.

Bryce Young is warming up, working through different throws and lengths of throws about 75 minutes before kickoff.

Bryce Young expected to play for Alabama

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, is expected to play after recovering from an injury to his throwing shoulder, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

"We'll evaluate (Young) in pregame," Saban said. "I know he wants to play. He's ready to play. We'll see if he can do the things physically he needs to do to play."

Read more about Young's injury status here.

Cedric Tillman (injury), Jaylen McCollough out for Tennessee

Tennessee safety Jaylen McCollough will not play. McCollough is facing a felony aggravated assault charge following his arrest on Oct. 9, but his attorney asserted "his complete innocence" in a statement.

McCollough, a four-year starter, leads the Vols in defensive snaps played (353) and ranks fourth in tackles (23). Tennessee already has problems in the defensive secondary, ranking No. 128 among 131 FBS teams in pass defense.

Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman will miss a third straight game because of an ankle injury. Without Tillman, the Vols must continue to rely on Bru McCoy, Jalin Hyatt, Ramel Keyton and others as targets for quarterback Hendon Hooker.
