Tennessee high school football Week 2 Nashville roundup: Blackman outlasts Gallatin

Week 2 of Tennessee high school football season has concluded.

MBA and Brentwood Academy picked up big wins, while Ensworth dropped a region game to Baylor.

Week 2 Tennessee high school football Nashville-area roundup

Baylor 35, Ensworth 17: Levi Moore was 11-of-28 passing for 156 yards and Mark Smith had 12 carries for 137 yards and a touchdown in Ensworth’s loss. Teammate DuJuan Sharp caught four passes for 102 yards.

Beech 26, Henry County 21: JP Courtney rushed for 126 yards on 24 carries and had a TD in the win. Teammate Caden Thieman rushed for 40 yards and a TD. He also caught two passes for 31 yards and grabbed two interceptions. Morgan Barrick rushed for 108 yards and had two TDs in the loss for Henry County.

Blackman 42, Gallatin 33: Jack Risner was 10-of-15 passing for 195 yards and two touchdowns and Justin Brown had six catches for 125 yards and a touchdown in Blackman’s win. Teammate Ben Marshall had eight carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Boyd Buchanan 39, Davidson Academy 10: Knox Roberts was 7-of-16 passing for 110 yards and a touchdown in Davidson Academy’s loss. Teammate Wes Harper caught one pass for 60 yards and a touchdown.

Brentwood Academy 28, CPA 17: Deuce Scott had 36 carries for 230 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for two yards and a touchdown for Brentwood Academy. George McIntyre was 15-of-18 passing for 151 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles. Braden Streeter was 6-of-9 passing for 117 yards and London Humphries had six catches for 121 yards for the Lions.

Centennial 42, Lincoln County 7: Brendan Jones was 14-of-17 passing for 227 yards and three touchdowns in Centennial’s win. Taner Lee had 11 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown and Dominic Reed caught three passes for 52 yards and two touchdowns for the Cougars.

East Nashville 42, Stewarts Creek 7: Zac Beard was 11-of-17 passing for 206 yards and TreQuan Waters had 18 carries for 185 yards and two touchdowns for East Nashville. Bobby Joyner added 144 yards and two touchdowns on three catches. Javarian Otey had 17 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown for Stewarts Creek.

Father Ryan 10, Brentwood 7: JoJo Crump had 17 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown and was 12-of-19 passing for 106 yards for Father Ryan. Mason Bryant added 55 yards on seven carries. Grant Nelson was 19-of-39 passing for 217 yards and a touchdown and Matthew Manning had 11 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown for Brentwood.

Grace Christian 35, MTCS 15: Kyle Davidson had 10 carries for 101 yards and four touchdowns and caught three passes for 41 yards in Grace Christian’s win. Cole Hyland led the defense with eight tackles.

Independence 34, Trezevant 0: Tre Hartwell had six carries for 85 yards and three touchdowns to lead Independence, which played without starting quarterback Cody Pagach and Alabama commitment Ty Lockwood. Backup Peyton Kirton was 3-of-8 passing for 76 yards and two touchdowns and Daniel Morales had three catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

Lawrence County 48, Loretto 42: Isaiah Bentley had 13 carries for 195 yards and three touchdowns and Letavion Everly added 140 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries for Lawrence County. Carter Daniel was 18-of-31 passing for 354 yards and four touchdowns for Loretto.

Lebanon 43, Wilson Central 3: Jaylen Abston was 6-of-11 passing for 94 yards and two touchdowns and had three carries for 23 yards and a touchdown for Lebanon. Anthony Crowell had four carries for 84 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 52 yards for the Blue Devils. Tavin Hardin had 41 yards on 14 carries for Wilson Central.

Marshall County 36, Shelbyville 14: Silas Teat was 13-of-19 passing for 216 yards and four touchdowns for Marshall County. Aja Jones had six catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns and Marcus O’Neal had one carry for 68 yards and a touchdown.

MBA 49, Pearl-Cohn 6: Marcel Reed was 8-of-14 passing for 122 yards and two touchdowns and had eight carries for 48 yards and a touchdown to lead MBA. Johnothan Moore added 140 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries for the Big Red. Javion Kinnard had 20 carries for 80 yards for Pearl-Cohn.

Overton 47, Stratford 0: Ryder Hagan was 4-of-5 passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns in Overton’s win. Jevon Edmonson had eight carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 66 yards.

Page 28, Franklin 17: Colin Hurd threw for 139 yards, ran for 102 and had three total touchdowns in the Patriots' second win against a Williamson County rival in as many weeks. Teammate Ethan Cunningham added 15 carries for 109 yards and a TD. Cooper Brown had five catches for 80 yards and Brewer Wilson had 157 passing yards for the Rebels.

Pope John Paul II 34, Pure Academy 8: Pittsburgh commitment Kenny Minchey was 12-of-15 passing for 194 yards with two touchdowns. Teammate Josh Mailander had four catches for 69 yards and returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown for the Knights.

Summit 35, Spring Hill 0: Dominick Hollis had 19 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown for Summit. Austin Harvey was 5-of-13 passing for 58 yards and a touchdown and had six carries for 29 yards for the Spartans.

Upperman 49, Trousdale County 8: Terrance Dedmon had nine carries for 133 yards and a touchdown and Jaxson Rollins added 120 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries to lead Upperman. Carmine Phillips had four carries for 59 yards for the Bees.

York 35, Jackson County 2: Miles Leffew had 10 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns and was 2-of-6 passing for 90 yards and two touchdowns in York’s win. Teammate Caden Stover added 95 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Jordan Arroyo had 12 carries for 78 yards for Jackson County.

Columbia 14, Dickson Co. 13 OT: Luke Uselton completed a two-point conversion with a pass to teammate Jordan Davis to seal the win for the Lions. It marked the first win at Columbia for coach Bobby Sharp, who spent 34 seasons at Lewis County before coming to Maury County in the offseason. The score came after Aden Cardona ran in for a 4-yard TD. Kayden McCoy led the Lions (1-1) with 57 yards rushing and two catches for 44 yards. Eastern Kentucky commitment Colbey Lamberth was 16-of-25 passing for 203 yards for Dickson County (0-2).

DCA 51, Ezell-Harding 6: The Division II-A state champions got back to winning Thursday. Ashton Jones ran for 154 yards and scored three TDs for DCA (1-1). Mitchell Carey was 5-of-7 passing for 137 yards and had a TD. Teammate Grayson Scragg caught two passes for 114 yards and a touchdown. Melvin Cousin led Ezell-Harding (0-2) with 148 passing yards and a TD.

Goodpasture 14, Nashville Christian 12: Musa Wellman ran for 78 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Cougars to a 2-0 start with a win over the Eagles. Wellman also had 5.5 tackles and two sacks in the win. Teammate Tanner Lane added 23 rushing yards and a TD. And JD Mastin was 10-of-16 passing for 84 yards with an interception. Jared Curtis was 11-of-27 passing for 129 yards and an interception for NCS (0-2). Curtis also ran for 71 yards and a TD.

Ravenwood 56, BGA 3: The Raptors picked up their first win of the season with a mercy win over BGA. Sophomore Ben Hubbard scored twice in special teams — blocking a punt for a TD and returning a kickoff 76 yards for another. Mississippi State commitment Chris Parson was 9-of-11 passing for 93 yards, ran for 54 yards and had two total TDs. Teammate Carter Pace had 110 yards on nine carries and had 3 touchdowns. Austin Ford led BGA with 90 yards on 18 carries.

Smyrna 33, Rockvale 12: Smyrna's secondary returned three interceptions for touchdowns in the non-region contest to improve to 2-0. Thomas Jones had two of them and teammate Michael Robinson had the other for the Bulldogs (2-0). Memphis commitment Arion Carter rushed for 81 yards and two TDs while also having 14 total tackles with a sack.

White House 20, Greenbrier 18: Michael Albin ran for 136 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Blue Devils (1-1) who nipped the rival Bobcats (0-2). Tennessee commitment Nathan Robinson had 11 tackles on defense. He also had two catches for 41 yards.
