Tennessee high school football Week 1 Nashville roundup: Defending DII-A state champion DCA stunned

It was an eventful Week 1 of the Tennessee high school football 2022 season.

Defending Division II-A state champions DCA dropped its opener to MTCS, and Brentwood stood tall at home against Blackman.

Elsewhere, Brentwood Academy lost in overtime to a Georgia private school, and Summit dropped its opener to Henry County.

Here's the full Week 1 roundup:

Bledsoe County 28, York 14: Mile Leffew was 10-of-24 passing for 122 yards and a touchdown in York’s loss. Caden Stover added 83 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Brentwood 23, Blackman 14: Adam Fontechia had five carries for 22 yards and two touchdowns and Issac Hayes made three field goals, including attempts of 49 and 50 yards, to lead Brentwood past Blackman. Jack Risner was 21-of-28 passing for 287 yards and two touchdowns and Ben Marshall had seven catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns for Blackman.

Centennial 38, Overton 28: Brendan Jones was 15-of-23 passing for 322 yards and three TDs in the non-region win. Teammate Kani Johnson added six catches for 159 yards and a TD. Tanner Lee carried 25 times for 113 yards and two scores. Ryder Hagan was 12-of-24 passing for 217 yards and a touchdown in Overton’s loss. Tyson Edwards added 119 yards on five catches.

Clay County 40, Jackson County 0: Keaton Arms was 9-of-17 passing for 115 yards and a touchdown for Clay County. Joseph Marcom added 111 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries.

Columbia Academy 41, Ezell Harding 6: Montae Baldwin had seven carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns and Connor Rosson had four carries for 55 yards and a TD for Columbia Academy in the win.

CPA 42, Independence 24: Joshua Mayernick had 15 carries for 118 yards and a touchdown and Thomas Vaccaro was 8-of-10 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns for CPA in its opening win. Teammate London Humphreys caught two passes for 55 yards and two touchdowns. Cody Pagach was 9-of-14 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown for Independence.

Eagle's Landing (GA) 50, Brentwood Academy 49 OT: George MacIntyre was 24-of-33 passing for 296 yards and three touchdowns and Deuce Scott had 22 carries for 95 yards and three touchdowns in Brentwood Academy’s loss.

Ensworth 44, ECS 0: Levi Moore was 9-of-11 passing for 237 yards and two touchdowns and had two carries for 14 yards and a touchdown for Ensworth. Kentucky commitment Shamar Porter caught five passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers.

Forrest 55, Eagleville 24: Elijah Fearns had four catches for 127 yards and two touchdowns and a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Eagleville’s loss. Teammate Jesse Brown was 11-of-19 passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

FRA 29, Nashville Christian 24: Ty Clark had 18 carries for 189 yards and two touchdowns and had five catches for 84 yards and a touchdown for FRA. Logan Kinnard was 8-of-11 passing for 117 yards and a touchdown. Jared Curtis was 5-of-14 passing for 98 yards and a touchdown for Nashville Christian.

Grace Christian 46, Humboldt 8: Jackson Hiett was 10-of-21 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns for Grace Christian. Kyle Davidson had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns and Nathan Greene had 19 carries for 54 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions.

Henry County 30, Summit 7: Morgan Barrick had 15 carries for 161 yards and scored on a 52-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to lead Henry County. Dominick Hollis had 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for Summit.

Lawrence County 50, Summertown 7: Ian Clayton had six carries for 74 yards and a touchdown and Letavion Everly had six carries for 33 yards and a touchdown for Lawrence County.

Lipscomb Academy 17, Milton (GA) 7: Hank Brown was 20-of-28 passing for 223 yards and two touchdowns in Lipscomb Academy’s win. Vanderbilt commitment Junior Sherril had seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown and Kamarion Ward had 69 yards and a touchdown on three catches for the Mustangs.

Marshall County 41, Columbia 20: Demari Braden had 20 carries for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Marshall County. Teammate Silas Teat was 7-of-13 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more touchdowns.

MBA 46, Ravenwood 20: Johnothan Moore had 17 carries for 177 yards and three touchdowns and Marcel Reed was 13-of-15 passing for 171 yards and two touchdowns for MBA. Chris Parson was 12-of-19 passing for 170 yards and a touchdown for Ravenwood in the loss.

MTCS 19, DCA 7: Seth Harris had two carries for 38 yards and a touchdown and Chase Mitchell had six carries for 31 yards and two touchdowns for MTCS. Mitchell Carey was 5-of-13 passing for 64 yards for DCA.

Nolensville 38, BGA 14: Coby Walton was 14-of-27 passing for 227 yards and two touchdowns to lead Nolensville. Chance Fitzgerald had seven catches for 151 yards and a touchdown and Samson Johnson ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for the Knights. Austin Ford had 21 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns for BGA.

Riverdale 14, Franklin 10: Braden Graham was 8-16 passing for 94 yards and DJ Taylor had five carries for 42 yards and a touchdown for Riverdale. Brewer Wilson was 15-of-22 passing for 149 yards and a touchdown for Franklin.

Smyrna 35, Stewarts Creek 14: Landon Miller had 12 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns and teammate Arion Carter had 15 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Springfield 35, Greenbrier 0: Devon Crenshaw was 5-of-13 passing for 116 yards and two touchdowns and had seven carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns for Springfield.

Westmoreland 14, Portland 13: Eli Stafford had 11 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown to lead Westmoreland. Freddy Paxton had seven carries for 175 yards and a touchdown for Portland.
