A new Tennessee milk logo? Yes, and wait to you see the options you get to vote on

Tennessee's dairy industry is poised for a fresh, new look.

And holy cow, the designs have us over the moon.

The Department of Agriculture in recent months accepted designs for a new, official Tennessee Milk logo. Tennesseans of all ages were able to submit designs.

Out of the total 34 submission designs, agriculture commissioner Charlie Hatcher and deputy commissioner Jeff Aiken narrowed the list down to the top four, said Department of Agriculture Public Information Officer Kim Doddridge. And now, Tennesseans can now vote for their favorite logo via Facebook until Aug. 25.

The winning design will be used by dairy producers whose milk products are 100% sourced, processed and bottled in Tennessee.

All designs are blue and crimson and feature the three stars representing Tennessee's three regions, as on the official state flag. So far, Tennesseans are udder-ly in love with a design that features an adorable, spotted cow above big bold letters that read, 'Tennessee milk.'

The design is currently leading with more than 1,000 likes.

Users are able to like or share their favorite designs; comments don't count as votes. For those not on Facebook, in-person voting will also take place at the Tennessee State Fair, inside the Pick TN Products Experience in Building B. The designer of the winning logo will be awarded a variety of Pick Tennessee Products.

Transitioning to the new logo will take time to implement, Doddridge said. And it will be up to eligible companies to decide when and if they make the change.

"When a producer chooses to use the logo on their bottle, consumers know they’re supporting a Tennessee dairy farmer," she said. "TDA sees using the milk logo as a great way to promote the Tennessee dairy industry to consumers who want to source local dairy products."
