Tennessee softball defeats Alabama for 20th consecutive win

No. 4 Tennessee (25-1, 7-0 SEC) defeated No. 16 Alabama (23-9, 1-3 SEC), 5-1, Friday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

With the victory, the Lady Vols remained undefeated in Southeastern Conference play and won its 20th consecutive game.

Tennessee ended a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning. Lair Beautae’s sacrifice fly allowed Katie Taylor  to score. Zaida Puni hit an RBI single that scored Kiki Milloy.

Beautae went 1-for-2, recording three RBIs and a two-run home run.

McKenna Gibson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.

The Crimson Tide scored in the seventh inning on a solo home run by Bailey Downing.

Lady Vols’ graduate student Ashley Rogers pitched a complete game. She allowed one run, three hits and one walk, while recording six strikeouts.

Alabama’s Montana Fouts pitched six innings. She surrendered five runs, seven hits and one walk, while recording six strikeouts.
