Tennessee Titans' Derrick Henry, Jeffery Simmons report for mandatory minicamp | Source

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons are in the team facility ahead of mandatory veteran minicamp this week, a source confirmed to The Tennessean Monday evening. It indicates that both will practice in the last portion of the offseason program.

ESPN first reported that the two stars reported to team headquarters.

NFL players can be fined for unexcused absences from mandatory minicamp. An absence by Henry or Simmons would have increased speculation about the status of their contracts.

ESPN reported last month that the Titans are open to an extension for Henry, who has two years left on his current deal. He's due $12 million in base salary and carries a $15 million cap hit in 2022.

The Titans picked up Simmons' fifth-year option last month, which will pay him $10.753 million fully guaranteed in 2023. But he could be seeking a new contract after fellow defensive tackle Aaron Donald received a new-big money deal that reportedly makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

Simmons is due a base salary of $2.2 million in 2022, the last year of his initial rookie contract.

Henry and Simmons were not on the field during open sessions of organized team activities, which are voluntary.

Titans mandatory minicamp is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
