The Tennessee Titans are elevating veteran wide receiver Josh Gordon from the practice squad for Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, a source with direct knowledge of the move confirmed to The Tennessean.

The move was first reported by NFL Network. Game time is 6:15 p.m. on ESPN.

Not yet announced by the team, the move means the 31-year-old Gordon, signed to the practice squad Sept. 1, will make his debut for the Titans (0-1), who seek their first win of the season against the Bills (1-0).

The elevation comes as fifth-round rookie wideout Kyle Philips, Tennessee's leading receiver in the opener against the Giants, is questionable with a shoulder injury.

Gordon has 252 receptions for 4,284 yards and 25 touchdowns in seven seasons over 75 career games with the Browns (2012-14; 2017-18), New England Patriots (2018-19), Seattle Seahawks (2019) and Kansas City Chiefs (2021). The Chiefs released him during final roster cuts in August.

Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013 with the Browns – his second NFL season – but multiple suspensions for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances and substances of abuse derailed his promising career. A one-time Pro Bowler, Gordon has been suspended by the league six times, including the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

The Titans have been pleased with how Gordon has acclimated to the team.

"Josh is continuing to improve and understand how we do things in our offense, the terminology and where he wants to play," coach Mike Vrabel said Saturday. "It has been good. That is what we ask all of those guys on the practice squad, is to prepare as starters each and every week. All of those guys are trying to do that."
