Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Rashad Weaver's trial date set for simple assault charge

Tennessee Titans outside linebacker Rashad Weaver has a trial date set for a misdemeanor simple assault charge last year.

Weaver’s jury trial was set for Aug. 16 at a pre-trial conference Friday morning, according to court documents. He had a formal arraignment May 18.

Weaver, 24, was accused of punching a woman outside a Pittsburgh bar in April 2021. The charges were filed against him one day before he drafted by the Titans, who said at the time they were unaware of the case.

Before the incident, Weaver and the woman got into an argument at Pittsburgh's Foxtail bar and had to be separated by police after the woman spilled a drink on him, according to the criminal complaint.

Before leaving the bar, Weaver told officers on the scene that he had “no problem hitting a female if they needed it,” per the incident report.

One week after the incident, police contacted the woman, who told them she went to the hospital because she was vomiting. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with a concussion, according to the complaint.

Weaver’s lawyer denied the allegations, and a responding officer at the scene wrote in a criminal complaint that he observed no injury consistent with a punch.

Weaver played two games as a rookie before suffering a season-ending leg injury. He’s expected to be a top reserve at outside linebacker and play a key role on special teams in 2022.
