Tennessee Voices, Episode 333: Shari Day, president and majority owner at bohan
In 2022, after the retirement of founder David Bohan, a handful of members of his leadership team took ownership of bohan, an independent advertising agency in Nashville.
Shari Day, the enterprise's president and CEO became majority owner, and on this episode of the Tennessee Voices video podcast, she discussed the challenges facing women in business, the effects of the "Great Resignation" on companies, and her views on the economic outlook for 2023.
She joined the agency 12 years ago and took over the top spot in 2016. She spoke about the need for businesses to adapt and change, especially during times of disruption. "Don't resist change; embrace it," she said.
Some consequences of COVID on work have had positive effects, while others have created challenges.
For example, women in the industry received more flexibility to balance their work and home lives at a time when female executives were leaving the workforce.
On the other hand, she called the "Great Resignation" the "bane of my existence." Day said it was important for leaders not to take staff departures personally and to take seriously the need to look their company's culture.
